The lost LOST...

Ok, so , My husband found these on the net and I haven't watched all of them but they are promising.
For the Lost fanatic, 13 mini-scenes? They aren't real episodes, only about three minutes long.
They seem early on in the show, this one is probably 1st season. Jack and Christian Shepherd have a heart to heart before Jack and Sarah's wedding.

5 Things...

Ok so , the LOST season finale is this evening and that means don't even think about trying to get a hold of me between the hours of 7 & 10pm CST. Not only is it a 2-Hr finale, but of course we have to watch last week's again, and then we will probably watch the finale twice because, heck, so much is going to happen?!
Thank God for DVR.
I know it sounds like obsession and that is probably because it is. So in light of my entertainment obsession and the fact that I am shooting for daily blogging (Ah?!), I have comprised a 5 Things list.
And I tag all you other entertainment freaks out there in the blogging world (Kate, Ahem.)

5 favorite TV shows:
1. LOST
2. Six Feet Under
3. The Office
4. Deadwood
5. Dexter

5 favorite "Reality" TV shows
1. Cash Cab
2. Top Chef
3. The Iron Chef
4. Ninja Warrior
5. Ghosthunters

5 favorite movies
1. Fight Club
2. 40 Year Old Virgin
3. The Indiana Jones Series
4. Life As A House
5. The Lord of the Rings trilogy
(yes I know I cheated on these)

5 favorite actors
1. Harrison Ford
2. Morgan Freeman
3. Johnny Depp
4. Christian Bale
5. Will Smith

5 favorite actresses
1. Cate Blanchett
2. Parker Posey
3. Maggie Smith
4. Catherine O'Hara
5. Allison Janney

Ok, so that's five 5s. I now realize I watch entirely too much television and what's worse is how difficult is was to narrow them down to five.

ok, here you go

this is after the race....ummmm, not my best look.

Monday, May 26, 2008

What, what?!

Yes I did.
I was in my first race today! In honor of my brother, who is a runner, I ran the Amy Thompson Run to Daylight. It's only a two mile race but its a start right? I figured he couldn't do much competitive running, being over seas fighting a war and all, so I decided to sign up for as many races/runs/walks as possible this summer.

My first of hopefully many runs was today. A benefit run for Amy Thompson and proceeds went to brain injury research. There were two options; an 8k or a 2 mile, I wanted to sign up for the 8K, but Murph reminded me that may be a little too ambitious. Thankfully, I listened to him and went with the 2 mile.

Here I am before the race

I won't being showing you pictures of afterwards unless I get requests for them because they are terrible. I look like a drowned rat!!!!! Spring showers the entire race! (You are gonna have to comment Sarah...Ha!)

I have never raced before so I was new to the Timing Chip (looks like a BC ring to me but what eve?) I thought it was cool.

This picture turned out blurry but it says support our troops. My brosef is a big reason I did this so I thought this was cool on the back of the shirts.

Well, more to come on that - - Wish me luck!

For Meghan: Feb 12 1979 - May 15 2008

I could have treated you better
You couldn't have treated me worse
But it's he who laughs last, is he who cries first
Sometimes I feel I know strangers much better than I know my friends
Why must a beginning be the means to an end

The stones from my enemies, these wounds will mend
But I cannot survive the roses from my friends

When the last word has been spoken
And we've bared witness to the final setting sun
All that shall remain is a token
Of what we've said and done

This may be the last time that I see you
Forgive me for holding you close
This may be the last time I see you
So of this moment I will make the most
This may be the last time I see you, but if you keep me in your heart
Together we shall be eternal
If you believe, we shall never ever part

The stones from my enemies, these wounds will mend
But I cannot survive the roses from my friends

"HEY BIRD!"

This bird was on my nextdoor neighbor's roof the other day. I thought I was going mad for a moment...this thing is huge! At least 3 feet tall, I didn't even know we had birds this big in Waldo.

A Blue Heron, my husband informed me. And also the culprit of the missing Koi from our pond! Jan camped out for the evening to make sure he didn't grab any more for snack.

Thanks Moms

In the spirit of Mother's Day, I want to thank all of the women who have shown me what being a mother means in the many ways a mother can be. Motherhood is a truly amazing thing to me, it requires so much strength, sacrifice, and love. It takes a patience I doubt I will ever posses, and a humbling I'm not quite sure I'm ready for. I give all my gratitude to the mothers I have known.

Mom, thanks for having me. And super thanks for giving me siblings, it is the greatest gift you ever gave me. I truly thank you for being a mom. The strongest allies in my life are those who I call brother and sister.

This is my mom before she was a mom :)

"The phrase "working mother" is redundant." -- Jane Sellman
"Of all the rights of women, the greatest is to be a mother" -- Lin Yutang

Jan, thank you for Murphy, and for making me your daughter. I learn from you everyday.

Sherry, thank you for teaching me that all step-mothers aren't evil...all the time anyway :) And thanks for putting up with all that teenage angst.

Sue, ahhh....thanks for not killing me or Sarah. 'Cuz, I probably would have had I been in your shoes.

Dawee, you are the most amazing mom I know. A vivid image of you comes to mind when I think of the word 'motherhood'. 8 months pregnant, squeezing out from behind the wheel of your mom's car, the strongest I had ever seen you. Thanks for Ashley, my world would be intolerable without her in it.

Tara, thank you for being a mom, because if you weren't a mom, I never would have met you.

Jane, thank you Jane for always being true. You are the most genuine friend one can have.

Kathy, Oh Kathy! Thank you for making me do chores every Saturday; No, I mean it, thanks. Thank you so much for making me a part of your family for so many years. Thank you for never judging me.

Leah, thank you for thickening my skin up a bit. I'd have no skeleton if it weren't for you.

Carol, thank you for my newest sister, my life would be a shambles without her. And so would my brother's. Thank you for being the mother who you are, it is a beautiful grace.

Linda, thank you for letting Becky and I make countless mud-pies on the back deck, occupy all hallways & most bedrooms to play "office", and borrow the expensive binoculars for our "spy club", oh and the AutoShow every year. super sweet.

Hilary, thank you for being all tatted-up and a mom. You give me hope.

And to all the moms of "furbabies" like me. (Jess calls them our furbabies -oh so cute!) We love our little ones as our kids!

Christina, for being a fearless mom.

Kate's Grad

Ok, so, I went to California and I promised you all pictures....but I forgot my camera. Insert SAD FACE here. But I did come back with quotes, which are my second favorite to pictures. Kate and I spent one night immersed in LOL pet pictures so they will guide you through.

1. "Ok, so 5:30 in the lobby." "5:30 in our lobby." "Um, how about 5:30 in the lobby?"
Jess said it first, but we all said it many times. Never did we specify AM or PM - so sorry Murph.

2. "Demons, be gone!"
Kate and I said it numerous times, with full animation, quoting this picture. Kate quoted correctly and I always reversed it.

3. "This must be your sister who looks just like you."
I heard this 77 billion times, each time followed by a hug. These Westmont peeps are super friendly and genuine. It was so awesome to meet Arielle, Helen, Rusty (it was brief), and Haley...and their families! Helen's mom saved me with coffee on the morning of the big move-out, Rusty's parents adorned me with flowers from Hawaii, and Arielle's entire family hugged me so much I almost cried! No wonder Kate loves this place so much!

4. Let me set the stage for this one. Kate and I got to stay in room all to our selves the last night (thanks Jess!), which was awesome to have some alone sister time. I had the pleasure of getting to stay with Kate the entire time I was out in California which was awesome. During a morning shower, Kate runs into the bathroom and desperately says, "Marri, I forgot to do something!". Oh, no what could it be? This poor girl has been through enough--leaving school, traveling across the country, starting out on her own. I panic for her and then...without warning POP. Kate hits me with a firecracker, over the shower curtain, and scares the *%$@! out of me. My face looked like this...

5. The 'mysterious duke' story. If you were there, you know what I'm talking about. I don't want to embarrass anyone. "What didn't happen....."

6. "You look like a deer in headlights." anonymous said to anonymous, and thank you for noticing :)

Ok, I promise to blog more about my adventures in Cali with Kate soon but this will have to hold you off for now!

I'm going to...

to celebrate my sister and her huge accomplishment in graduation. I'm really proud of Kate, she has worked her tail off! I will have lots of pictures when I return, Kate promised Jess and I to be her personal paparazzi. I'm sure there will be no shortage of pictures with my Unk Mike, Jess, and I all snapping shots!

Yea Kate!

The Raconteurs @ The Uptown Theatre

Murphy went to see one of his favorite bands the other night. He received tickets as his birthday present in March, and has been talking about this show since March 31st. He stole some shots and video....

Ok, Murph's video won't load so here is a more professional video of The Raconteurs...

The show didn't disappoint, there was even some drama. During the last song, appropriately titled Carolina Drama, Jack White (the lead singer) jumped off the stage to rescue a girl from exhaustion. She was stuck and couldn't move out of the tight crowd and she had passed out and was headed for the floor, where she was sure to be trampled. Jack grabbed her and lifted her to safety, then climbed back on stage to pick up right where he left off. Crazy! Too bad she won't have any memory of it.
The song in the video clip above is called Level, off their first album.
